A 1995 Bowmore single malt from indie bottler Douglas Laing, matured in a single refill hogshead for a quarter of a century before being bottled in June 2020 as part of its Xtra Old Particular The Black Series.
The second release in Douglas Laing's Xtra Old Particular The Black Series (which is reserved for some incredibly special expressions) is an independently bottled Bowmore, distilled back in March 1989. It was allowed to age for 30 years in a single refill hogshead before being bottled in June 2019. Just 276 bottles of this rare Islay single malt were produced.
A wonderful Macallan single malt, distilled all the way back in May 1989, when Bon Jovi was ruling the music charts. What a time. The Speysider was whacked into a single refill hogshead, where it slumbered for 30 long years. Eventually, it was bottled in October 2019 for Douglas Laing's Xtra Old Particular The Black Series. Just 230 bottles were released at 46% ABV, and each one has even been signed by Fred and Cara Laing themselves.

A 50 year old single grain Scotch whisky from the North of Scotland Distillery, independently bottled by Douglas Laing! This one began life back in December 1970, and aged in a refill barrel for half a century, until eventually being bottled in January 2021. It was released as part of the Xtra Old Particular The Black Series, which is reserved for marvellous well-matured expressions, like the one you see here (50 years! It's worth repeating!). Only 215 bottles were produced.
This extremely limited 45 year old single malt was distilled at Teaninich in November 1975 and bottled by Douglas Laing in November 2020 for their Xtra Old Particular Black Series - a range paying homage to their finest and rarest antique single cask whiskies stocks.

A stunning bottle of Caol Ila, distilled all the way back in January 1984. After 35 long years, the single malt was bottled in March 2019 from a single refill hogshead, for Douglas Laing's XOP Old Particular range. The whisky saw an outturn of only 268 bottles at 48.6% ABV. From Douglas Laing’s XOP range (Xtra Old Particular) comes this 41-year-old single grain whisky, aged in a refill hogshead. Bottled at natural cask strength – 50.8% ABV – the nose is distinctly fruity, with additional notes of honey. The palate holds a real Americana style, with sweet corn flavours and hints of vanilla, and finishes with buttery toffee flavours.
A 21 year old single malt from Clynelish, bottled for the Xtra Old Particular range by Douglas Laing. This one was matured from April 1997 to August 2018 in a refill hogshead, then bottled at cask strength with an outturn of 309 bottles.
A fabulous single grain from Garnheath Distillery, which was closed and demolished in 1986 – just eight years after this whisky was distilled in 1974! It rested for many, many moons in a single refill barrel, until Douglas Laing bottled the Lowlander in April 2020. Just 139 bottles were released for the Xtra Old Particular series at an approachable cask strength, 45.9% ABV, full of that hallmark grain sweetness.
